UWA offers a trip for two to Queen Elizabeth National Park In its continued pursuit of Corporate Social Responsibility, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) through its department of Tourism and Business Services has offered an all expenses paid trip for two Ugandans to tour the Queen Elizabeth national Park in south western Uganda. The offer was announced by the acting Executive Director Dr. Andrew Seguya during the July 1, 2011 Marketers’ night held at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The winner of the trip was identified as Rukiya Lwanyaga, an account manager with Vantage Communications Group after she displayed rare strokes during a mini dancing competition during the event. The event was organized by Marketing Africa with the guest speaker being Mr.Steve Hales ,the Global head of Synovate Qualitative Research on the topic ”The right tools for meaningful brands”
Birding Tourism Receives a big boost A group of 50 bird guides, 21 of them from Uganda Wildlife Authority have recently completed a three week intensive birding guiding course with enhanced skills that are expected to promote bird watching in Uganda. Read more....

Batwa trail Launch restores the Forest peoples' glory
“A Tourism product of the century” was the phrase used by the commissioner for Tourism Ms Grace Aulo as she ceremoniously cut the ribbon to officially launch the Batwa Cultural Tourism Trail at the base of Muhabura range in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro district on June 7, 2011.
The event where drums rhythmically beat, flutes sang and spectators held their breath ,was graced by the likes of Eugene Rutagarama (IGCP) Kigali, the Royal Netherlands embassy diplomats, the Greater Virunga Trans-boundary Core Secretariat senior staff, USAID-STAR Chief of Party,Mr. Kaddu Sebunya, international media including China’s Xinhua ,UWEC acting ED ,Kisoro District Local Government political and civic leaders, Batwa representatives from all over the region among others. Law enforcement beefed up
With a total of 204 energetic and enthusiastic rangers trained and recruited by the Uganda Wildlife Authority recently, protection for the wildlife, guarding against national parks encroachment and improved tourist security are guaranteed.
The strong force was passed out in early June after over three months of training at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi (NALI).The staff were recruited from areas around all the ten national parks in the country last September and have since been posted to different conservation areas including the headquarters. UWA showcases her unique tourism products at TZ at Karibu Tourism Fair
The Uganda stand showcasing a variety of unique tourism products was the centre of attraction during the three day Karibu Travel and Tourism fair held in Arusha, Tanzania in June 2011.
The fair is jointly organized by the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators, the Tanzania tourist board and the ministry of natural resources and tourism. The event was hosted at Magereza grounds in Arusha Municipality between June 3-5th attracting over 300 exhibitors marketing various products and services and offered a rare opportunity for stake holders in the tourism, hotel and travel industry to interact with their potential clients, visitors and business partners.
