In their relentless efforts to promote domestic tourism and maintain Uganda's status as a leading tourism destination, Uganda Wildlife Authority(UWA) marketers actively took part in the week long Bunyoro-Kitara Tourism Expo between June 9-16th at the Boma Grounds in Hoima Municipality.
The exhibition also coincided with the 19th coronation anniversary of Bunyoro Kingdom's 19th coronation anniversary as His Highness King Solomon Iguru Agutamba Gafabusa marked close to two decades reigning over the great monarch.
Hundreds of the Bunyoro Kitara residents thronged the UWA stall to get first hand information about the natural attractions surrounding their region, tourism investment potential and harnessing the natural resources to overcome poverty.
Bunyoro kingdom districts of Hoima, Kiryandongo, Masindi, Buliisa and Kibaale border with Uganda's largest and oldest protected Area, the Murchison Falls Conservation Area formerly known as the Kabalega Falls National Park.
During the 19th coronation anniversary, Uganda wildlife Authority presented a gift to the king of Bunyoro and visited various schools including Duhaga SS where they distributed conservation literature.
Uganda's Vice President, Mr. Edward Ssekandi,Dr urged the Banyoro to take advantage of their natural heritage especially eco tourism opportunities to develop their region as invstors,tour guides,transporters,hoteliers and tour operators.
