World Tourism Day celebrations in the Rwenzori region which were preceded by a week-long exhibition at the Boma grounds, Fort Portal were the key highlight of September,2013.
The well organised and massively attended events attracted the Toro royals, Ministry of Tourism officials and foreign diplomats to track the much sought after chimpanzees in Kibale, Birding and nature walks in the World's primate capital. Our very own Hon. Dr. Maria Mutagamba was the chief guide and indeed led her visitors to the Kanyantare community of chimpanzees.
Other visitors used the opportunity while in the Rwenzori region to visit Semuliki cruising on the newly tarmacked Fort-Portal road, Queen Elizabeth and the Rwenzori National Parks.

Elsewhere, Uganda's largest protected area, Murchison Falls National Park hosted the Members of Parliament on the Tourism, Trade and Industry committee led by Hon. Flavia Kabahenda who not only appreciated the conservation strategies but the diverse tourism products including the Top of the falls trail which offered them spectacular sceneries.
The cashless system of payment for visitors to access the parks and activities was successfully launched in Bwindi and is soon rolling to the other parks. UWA was represented at the Great Apes Summit in the USA while our Deputy Director Conservation embarked on his new role as a conservation ambassador by giving talks to global audiences in Canada.
UWA wishes you fruitful Independence and Eid celebrations while inviting you to Murchison Falls National Park the best place to sight the solar eclipse falling on November 3.
