On 8th October 2010, Uganda Wildlife Authority will host a Business Leaders Dinner at the Serena Gardens as part of the Friend a Gorilla Campaign which was launched in September 2009. The theme of the dinner is “Achieving Chest-Thumping Business Growth” and the Guest Speaker, will be Mr. Bart Dorrestein, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Legacy Group in South Africa.
 
 
Electric fencing to reduce Human Gorilla Conflict

Crop raiding and other destructive activities by wild animals which fuels conflicts between the communities neighbouring the national parks and the wildlife will soon be history if the idea of electric fencing along the park boundary becomes a reality. Having appreciated the need to improve livelihoods of the people of Nkuringo near (Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) through reducing crop raiding especially by gorillas and the need to protect the endangered Mountain Gorilla, Dr. Michele Goldsmith of Southern New Hampshire University in the USA, has developed an idea of electric fencing along the boundary of the park.

The Return of Lions to Lake Mburo National Park

A Pride of lions has re-emerged in Lake Mburo National Park after the last one died in 2004 due to poisoning by pastoralists because they were preying on livestock and food crops. However, in November 2008, they reappeared in the park and since then, staff and visitors have sighted them several times.

Magic of the Mighty Nile

The Nile is the greatest watercourse of the world. As the longest river in the world, the Nile crosses ten countries and empties into the Mediterranean Sea. With its source in Jinja district in Uganda, this great endowment cuts through countries of Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, DRC, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania. Pressed with the growing needs due to the growing population, Uganda just like any other country traversed by the Nile depends on the river to meet most of these needs.
