History has been re-written! Today Uganda boasts of resident zebras in three protected areas with Katonga wildlife reserve being latest addition after Kidepo and Lake Mburo National Parks.
The Impalas are also no longer a preserver of Lake Mburo National Park but are available in Katonga Wildlife reserve thanks to the recent successful translocation exercise by the Veterinary Unit of the UWA in Mid July. Eleven zebras and 68 impalas are now part of Katonga Wildlife reserve  and already attracting hundreds of local and international tourists.
Another milestone has been the completion of the Strategic Plan which has been purely developed by the UWA staff without the help of an external consultant. Thanks to the planning team, heads of Conservation Areas  and representatives from departments. For the first time, this Strategic Plan  boasts of a Monitoring and Evaluation  framework to help us gauge whether we are moving forward or in circles. The board approved this on June 18th, 2013.
The peak season has come at the right time with Uganda Wildlife Authority  having renovated a number of accommodation facilities mostly for mid level visitors in Queen Elizabeth, Elgon and Kidepo National Parks. The Tembo canteen in Mweya is functional while the lower camp offers affordable accommodation on top of the self catering houses overlooking the picturesque Lake Edward and Katwe.
Celebrations to mark Kidepo at 50 are on the right course, the General Management Plans (GMPs) for Pian Upe and Kidepo have been printed, a number of promotional materials including national park maps are available in our curio shops.

We are grateful to all our visitors including delegates from Routes Africa, the French Embassy, American embassy and other areas for regular visits to our attractions.
Together we conserve for Generations.
