Gorilla trekking in Uganda takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Treks require moderate fitness because the activity may last between 2 to 7 hours, and grant one hour of observation with a habituated gorilla families.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most popular gorilla trekking location and a home to roughly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. It is divided into four main trekking sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park located in the Virunga Mountains, issues about 8 permits per day and offers an alternative to the denser jungles of Bwindi.
