Communities regularly face the threat of crop destruction from wildlife & Endangered species face threats from community members


Mitigation strategies

  • digging trenches around the park border
  • installing beehive fences in swampy areas
  • planting tea as a buffer
  • growing garlic as a cash crop

Impact

  • These physical exclusion methods and agriculture-based deterrents have reduced crop destruction by wild animals and improved conditions for humans and wildlife alike

  • Respondents in the Human-Wildlife-Conflict-Mitigation project reported more positive feelings about the Uganda Wildlife Authority
